Hi! I’m Deeanna, the occupational therapist (OTR) who wants to be there with you on this journey. I am excited to have you join my journey with SensOTRy while I embark on yours.

Sensory re-education has been close to my heart ever since I learned the impact that sensation impairments have on individuals and saw the difference it makes in my former patients’ lives. They prove to me that sensation contributes to movements and strength as much as muscles and bones. Sadly, sensation impairment is often overlooked or goes undetected in healthcare settings because it is not the priority in most cases. Research and interventions in this area are also scarce due to the same reason.

Many of these patients had no idea that sensory impairment is treatable or the purpose of occupational therapy until they experienced progress in our sessions. Their ongoing words of wishing to have someone like me online and have access to resources sooner have planted a seed in me throughout my practice. And it has finally grown enough that I decided to take a leap of faith and build an online service and an educational YouTube channel to increase accessibility for those in need and raise public awareness about sensory dysfunctions.

I aim to be the first, if not one of the few, trusted OT resources in this niche to provide reliable, evidence-based guidance and support for adults seeking recovery or management of sensory issues at home. I believe therapy, or any form of healthcare, should be easily accessible, affordable, and transparent to individuals and families. Individuals should have the autonomy to choose and take control of their treatment at any time, and from anywhere. I want to offer my expertise and collaborate with individuals who are committed to restoring their quality of life with improved sensation. Together, these mutual commitments can expand insights into current interventions and lay the groundwork for future studies that can benefit more people with sensory issues.
