Do you know the very first thing we lose after our body sensation changed is the Light Touch? Our ability to touch something light and soft, like dandelion & cotton.
Sensory health has always stood out to me because it is so easy to overlook. In hospitals and clinics, more urgent concerns often take priority, yet I’ve seen how changes in sensation can continue to affect daily life long after other parts of recovery have improved.
I also noticed a gap: many sensory resources focus on children, while adults experiencing changes after injury, illness, disability, or long-unrecognized sensory needs are often left searching for answers.
Those experiences, my patients’ stories, and my own curiosity turned me into a bit of a sensory nerd—and ultimately inspired SensOTRy. My goal is to make sensory health easier to understand, more practical to address, and much harder to overlook.
My approach to SensOTRy is rooted in occupational therapy and a whole-person view of sensory health. I look at how sensation connects with movement, pain, daily activities, body awareness, and the nervous system. As a yoga instructor, I also draw from movement, breathing, mindfulness, and other body-based perspectives to better understand the brain-body connection, including traditional concepts such as the meridian system, to broaden the way I think about the body and the sensory experience.
Education is always where I begin. I want people to understand what they are feeling, what may be contributing to it, and what they can realistically do next. Through gradual retraining, guided practice, and practical strategies, SensOTRy helps make sensory health easier to understand and apply to everyday life
Because no two people experience sensory changes in exactly the same way, I also believe individualized support has value. My goal is to help people feel more informed, more confident, and better equipped to manage sensory challenges in daily life.
When your GPS keeps “recalculating,” you pull over and reset it. Sensory re-education is that reset—teaching your system to recognize the right signals and guide you back on track.
That’s it, our programs are built upon the foundation of these theories, combining with current evidence and modern techniques to promote sensory health and wellness in individuals.
